Our Organization

The Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to promoting a positive business environment by uniting, serving, and representing all aspects of the building industry.

The Association's services and activities foster the professionalism of its members and provide a forum for education and information exchange for the benefit of the industry and the communities its members serve.

MABA monitors and exerts influence upon issues and regulations affecting the housing industry, particularly those related to availability and affordability. The Madison Area Builders Association is an affiliate of the Wisconsin Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.

History
The National Association of Real Estate Boards (NAREB) formed a builder division in 1923. In 1942, NAREB's builder division, known as the Home Builders Institute, became an independent orgnanization and changed its name to the National Association of Home Builders of the United States (NAHB). Both the Wisconsin Builders Association and the Madison Area Builders Association were chartered with NAHB in 1947.

Governance
The Madison Area Builders Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. There are eight Builder members and six Associate members. A portion of the Board is elected by the membership each year.

Green Built Home™
In 1999, the Madison Area Builders Association teamed with Wisconsin Environmental Initiative to create the first green building program in the Midwest - Green Built Home. In 2006, NAHB's National Green Building Conference named Green Built Home "Green Building Program of the Year." Read a press release on the Green Building Program of the Year award.
